posidon
Posidon was the god of the sea. he was also known as Neptune to the Romans. Neptune wasn't as respected by the Romans as Posidon was by the Greeks. The Romans were slightly afraid of the water because a lot of accidents happened in the roman empire around the Mare Nostrum now known as the Mediterranean. The Greeks had a much stronger respect for Posidon. The Greeks were more skilled with sailing and navigating. The Greeks highly worshiped Posidon over the others because as many people Greece was mainly an island empire.
